HDL-Apolipoproteins A-II

Analyte: HDL Apolipoproteins AII
Specimen Type: Serum, Inquire for additional option(s)
Optimum Volume: 0.5 mL
2-8°C -20°C -70°C
Unstable* N.A.* N.A.*
Reporting units: mg/dL
Method: Precipitation & Immunoturbidimetric
Biological or Clinical Significance:

Apolipoproteins are the protein components of lipoproteins in plasma and determine the structure, function, and metabolism of lipoproteins. Apolipoprotein A-I and A-II constitute about 90% of the total HDL protein. The ratio of Apo A-I to Apo A-II in HDL is about 3:1. Apo A-I and Apo A-II modulate HDL metabolism. Apo A-I and Apo A-II also function as cofactors of LCAT in the conversion of free cholesterol to cholesterol esters.

Principle of Test Method:

In this procedure, the HDL fraction is obtained via precipitation (see HDL-C precipitation by DS or PEG). Apo A-II is then measured on the HDL supernate by automated immunoturbidimetric assay.
