Biological or Clinical Significance:

Vascular endothelial growth factor A is a protein that in humans is encoded by the VEGF-A gene. It is a member of the VEGF/PDGF family of structurally related proteins, is a potent angiogenic cytokine. VEGF-A plays important roles in inflammation and during normal and pathological angiogenesis. Elevated levels of VEGF have been reported in synovial fluids of rheumatoid arthritis patients and in sera from cancer patients. It binds and activates VEGFR-1 (Flt-1) and VEGFR-3 (FLT4) receptors.

Principle of Test Method:

The VEGF-A assay is a chemiluminescent immunoassay.  Detection range 4.9 – 5000  MRD 1:2
